Under the leadership of Alex Poulin, Mechanical EIT, the company has since expanded its focus to include EIT-based field services and project consulting.
Today, the company integrates both environmental and EIT expertise, specializing in water management systems, infrastructure inspections, civil construction projects, crossing work, installations, and maintenance projects across Northern BC. Poulin Environmental Ltd. continues to collaborate with experienced professionals and skilled contractors as needed to support complex projects and maintain a high standard of technical execution

Alex Poulin, B.Eng
Alex Poulin is a Mechanical EIT specializing in EIT and environmental consulting. After completing a diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology at BCIT in Vancouver, BC, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Lakehead University in Northern Ontario. Alex is a member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
He began his career gaining hands-on experience in engineering and environmental fieldwork, as well as infrastructure projects across Western Canada. Over the years, he has developed a strong background in bridge work, inspections, installations, water management systems, mechanical maintenance, and construction oversight throughout Northern BC.
Today, Alex operates Poulin Environmental Ltd., providing technical consulting and field engineering services across the environmental and infrastructure sectors. Alongside his consulting practice, he also works in the mechanical industry as a design and maintenance engineer, supporting slurry pump systems and process equipment for mining, forestry, and oil & gas operations.
Vincent Poulin, R.P.BioVince Poulin is a Qualified Environmental Professional and Registered Professional Biologist who specializes in forest ecology, riparian silviculture, vegetation assessments, soil and erosion control, ecosystem restoration, fish stream classification, wetland classification and identification. Vince was trained at the North Dakota School of Forestry (now Dakota College at Bottineau, North Dakota) and Utah State University where he achieved degrees in forestry and fisheries. His career began in Alaska working as a biologist on pacific salmon but quickly turned to the Arctic where he spent formative years working on oil and gas development projects on the North Slope of Alaska and the North West Territories. In 1981, Vince established the environmental consulting firm V. A. Poulin and Associates Ltd. The firm enabled him to provide arms-length project management and environmental services on behalf of the BC Ministry of Forests, BC Ministry of Environment and Department and Fisheries and Oceans Canada 8-year multiple-disciplinary fish-forestry program on the Queen Charlotte Islands (now Haida Gwaii). The program examined the environmental impacts of logging induced landslides on forest sites and streams of the Island Archipelago with results contributing significantly to the environmental regulations and strategies that transformed British Columbia’s forest industry and management through enactment of World-Class standards brought into law by the BC Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Act in 1985. Vince became one of the Province’s leading trainers in standards established for the protection of fish and wildlife in Riparian Areas. His forestry skills, extensive training in fisheries and earth sciences enabled him to lead development of Riparian Silviculture techniques for restoring BC’s riparian forests adjacent to streams. Similar skills were used as lead author of BC’s first edition Stream Crossing Guidelines. In 2003 he began development of an innovative methodology for helping to reduce the need for unnecessary fish stream assessments aimed toward classifying BC streams under the Forest and Range Practices Act of British Columbia. That methodology became implemented in 2007 and is now employed throughout the British Columbia Northeast. Vince continues to provide senior consulting services in matters of interest and clients needing special help on all aspects of water management, water licensing, stream classification, stream crossing, and forest restoration.
