Stream classification
(POULIN METHOD) for peace forest distrcit
This is a 2.5-day training course for technicians, foresters, engineers, surveyors and biologists on learning how to implement the Poulin Method, a risk-management tool for classifying streams in Northeastern British Columbia. Training includes a 1-day (½ in-house, ½ field) seminar on completing site assessments, scoring and rating streams for probability of use by fish. Day 2 is a field day completing assessments on three sites. Training concludes on Day 3 (½ day) with discussions on special circumstances, identifying target-fish species and competency testing. Certificates issued.

WETLAND COURSE
This course covers requirements for identification and classification of wetlands under the Oil and Gas Activities Act of BC and Forest and Range Practices Act of BC. Training includes in-house and field seminars on determining wetlands for purposes of regulation, riparian classes, and establishing wetland boundaries. Course duration is 2-days. Participants learn to identify common indicator plants and become familiar with regional plant guides. Required skills are practiced in the field at three representative wetland sites. Participants receive a PDF copy the 2020 “Wetland Plant Book” of common Wetland Indicator Plants for Northeast BC by Poulin V.A.”
